Welcome & Service Team Member
The contract is part time and permanent, and the hourly rate is £12.75. Your working time will be 28.00 hours each week. The employer, National Trust, is a charity. You will be based at Polesden Lacey, which is an estate, which could mean diversity in the role. Note some estates are far from public transport. It is located in Surrey.

As the public face of our properties, you’ll provide a warm, friendly welcome, give information about the property, answer questions and make sure everyone has an enjoyable and memorable visit.
Salary: The actual salary, based on the contracted hours will be £18,564.00. We’re currently undertaking our pay review process and it is likely that this salary will be increased from 1st April 2026.
Hours/working pattern: You will work 4 days per week during our summer opening times (March - September) and 4.5 days per week during winter hours (Oct - Feb)
Flexiblilty for working weekends, bank holidays and school holidays is required.

Reporting to the Welcome Manager you’ll be part of a team of 7 other Welcome team members working at Polesden Lacey within the Clandon and Hatchlands portfolio.
Polesden Lacey hosts up to 400,000 visitors in a year with many popular that bring the crowds in such as Lazy Jazz Sundays during the summer months and our Christmas offer which delighted 75,000 visitors in 2025. If you’re looking for a fast-paced environment this is the place for you. You’ll primarily work out of the visitor reception building, sometimes supporting pop up areas on busy days, our volunteers also work along side us to help bring the magic to the visitor journey with a longer welcome for those interested or fast-tracking members. The main duties of the role are using the till for admission, selling membership, & dealing with customer complaints and enquires.
Day to day, you’ll deliver a great all-round customer service experience. You’ll be on hand answering queries and listen to what our visitors need so you can share the right information. Your role is to make sure our visitors have the best day they can.. Great visitor experiences are in our nature, and we believe everyone should feel welcomed, appreciated and more engaged because of the excellent service you provide. This role would suit anyone with enthusiasm for delivering great customer service.
