We’re looking for a Service Team Member to join us at Powis Castle and Garden to support our busy teams across visitor operations. This is a varied and rewarding role where you’ll help us meet targets, solve problems, and deliver great service across different locations.
Salary: £12.75 per hour we’re currently undertaking our pay review process and it is likely that this salary will be increased from 1st April 2026.
Contract: Fixed term contract until 01-Nov-2026
Hours/ working pattern: This is a zero-hour contract, meaning we can’t guarantee a set number of hours each week. While we aim to provide a consistent work pattern, flexibility is needed as schedules may change based on business needs. We’ll try to give as much notice as possible. The role includes weekends and Bank Holidays but does not require evening or split shifts.
For this role, you’ll need to complete our online assessment instead of using a C.V. or online application form. This will help us understand more about your strengths and give you more information on the role.
Reporting to the Welcome Manager, you’ll be part of a team of working at the castle and garden entrances, in the car park and helping visitors enjoy their day.
Built in the 13th century as a medieval fortress for Welsh princes, from the 1570s the castle was the home of the Herbert family. Interiors reflect the Elizabethan through to the Edwardian periods, and the museum houses a collection of South Asian artefacts. The world-famous garden includes 17th-century Italianate terraces, 30-foot-high cloud-like yew trees, a formal garden and a peaceful woodland area.
The core part of your job is to give vital and positive support to your colleagues, wherever you’re needed, with a focus on greeting and helping visitors. No two days will be the same. You’ll work across different visitor areas, helping us meet service and targets. You’ll also be on hand to resolve customer issues in a friendly and helpful way. Tasks could include welcoming visitors, directing cars, restocking leaflets, clearing tables in the café, and answering questions to help people get the most out of their visit.
This role works on a rota basis and will include weekend and Bank Holiday working.
We’d love to hear from you if you’re:
- focused on giving great service to everyone you meet
- confident speaking with visitors and solving problems
- a team player, but also happy to work on your own initiative
- well-organised, adaptable, and flexible to work across different sites
- willing to learn new skills and work towards shared goals
