Job Description

We’re looking for a Retail Team Member to welcome visitors to the National Trust shop for Lindisfarne Castle. The shop is situated in the heart of the village on Holy Island and you would be required to answer visitor questions, deliver excellent customer service and help them make the most of their day.

Salary: £11,466/ £12.25 an hour

Duration: Fixed Term contract for 36 weeks (until 1 November 2026)

Hours: Average of 18 hours per week but this will vary depending on the tides and needs of the business. This role is based on annualised hours, where the amount of hours you work each month may vary, however your salary will be paid in 12 equal instalments over the year.

The hours will be worked flexibly across the week, including weekends and bank holidays. A standard full day would be 9:45am- 5:15pm with a half hour unpaid lunch break. All rotas are issued at least a month in advance.

As a member of the retail team, you’ll be offering visitors help and advice with their shopping. You’ll have high standards of presentation in the shop while providing excellent service to all customers.

You’ll also be able to talk to them about how everything they buy helps to fund the work of the National Trust. Other duties may include arranging, receiving and unpacking deliveries, creating shop displays and working with others in the team to keep the shop floor clean and organised.
